Girl, 17, escapes fire in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- A 17-year-old Fargo girl has been treated for smoke inhalation after escaping a mobile home that was destroyed by fire.

Fargo Assistant Fire Chief Larry Schuh tells the Forum that the girl woke up to the smell of smoke Saturday night and escaped through the bedroom window.

Crews responded about 11:40 p.m. and found the mobile home engulfed in flames, with strong winds pushing the fire onto the adjacent home. Firefighters stopped the flames from spreading into and brought the fire under control in about 15 minutes.

The girl was treated at Sanford Medical Center for smoke inhalation and is expected to make a full recovery.

Schuh says one cat died in the fire.

The cause is under investigation.
