We've all heard plenty about America's budget deficit and how politicians plan to get the country's spending in line with revenue. But how does the federal government raise revenue? And how can we better understand such a large budget?

David Wessel tries to explain the complicated system in his book "Red Ink: Inside the High-Stakes Politics of the Federal Budget." He joins The Daily Circuit Wednesday to discuss his book.

Wessel will be in Minneapolis Friday Sept. 7 talking to the Economic Club of Minnesota at the Hilton Minneapolis, 1001 Marquette Ave.
