School bus strikes pedestrian in St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A school bus has struck and critically injured a pedestrian in St. Paul.

The pedestrian, who was not identified, was taken to Regions Hospital. Police say the man, who is in his 60s, is expected to survive.

The bus was carrying 26 elementary school students when it struck the man Tuesday afternoon.

A witness says one of the man's legs was either pinned beneath the bus or run over completely. The bus had to back up for paramedics to reach the man.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the 44-year-old bus driver told police he did not see the man crossing the street.
