Road rage incident ends in shooting outside police station

Charges are expected Tuesday in a road rage incident that escalated into a shooting in Isanti over the weekend.

Police say the incident between a motorcyclist and the driver of another vehicle began Saturday on Highway 65. It ended up in the parking lot of the police station, where police say one of the men shot the other.

Police took the alleged gunman to jail. The shooting victim was conscious and talking when he was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

Isanti Police Chief Ron Sager said officers are still trying to figure out what happened.

Police have not released the names of the men involved. Sager said it's unclear if they knew each other.

"We're just trying to gather as much information as we can and we've had good luck with people coming forward and providing witness information, so we should bring this to a conclusion here shortly," Sager said.

He said it is only the second shooting ever in the city's history. Road rage is a concern but such incidents are rare, he said.
