Runners from Mexico, Portland win marathon

A 38-year-old man from Zacatecas, Mexico, on Sunday won the annual Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon with an unofficial time of 2 hours and 14 minutes.

Christopher Kipyego's average pace was 5 minutes, 9 seconds a mile.

The event had 2,938 runners entered.

The first-place woman was 30-year-old Jeannette Faber of Portland, Ore. She finished in 2 hours and 32 minutes, with an average pace of 5 minutes 50 seconds per mile.
