Teacher collapses and dies in classroom

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Students and teachers in northeast Minneapolis are shaken by the sudden death of a beloved teacher.

Forty-year-old Lori Blomme collapsed in her classroom Monday after telling her students she was feeling faint. Some students ran for help after she fell in front of the classroom during third hour at Menlo Park Academy.

KMSP-TV reports students were moved to the school gym while paramedics attended to Blomme and rushed her to the hospital. Later they were informed of her death. Student Darrian Lenoir says Blomme was the best teacher and he worked hard to pass her class.

Blomme and her husband have two daughters, ages 6 and 8.
