Madonna kicks off big shows at Xcel Center

Pop superstar Madonna performs in the Twin Cities on Saturday night for the first time since since 1987.

Madonna is the first of three big stars who will be at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul over the next nine days.

She has been performing seven songs from her newest release, "MDNA," and a selection of older hits during this world tour, which started in Israel in May.

It's a tour that has been marked by late starts and elaborate staging. The multimedia presentation includes fake guns and blood and drummers suspended from the ceiling.

Madonna will play two nights at the X. On Wednesday, Bob Dylan comes to town, and next Sunday and Monday, it's Bruce Springsteen's turn to take over the arena.
