Minn. to hold Veterans Day program Sunday

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) -- The commander of Minnesota's famed "Red Bulls" will speak at the official State of Minnesota Veterans Day program Sunday.

Maj. Gen. David Elicerio commanded 2,600 members of the Minnesota National Guard's 34th Infantry "Red Bull" Division through their 22-month deployment in Iraq.

Other speakers include Gov. Mark Dayton, Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Larry Shellito, U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken, and U.S. Reps. Betty McCollum and Keith Ellison.

The event will be held at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights. A free community breakfast will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., followed by a program from 10 to 11 a.m.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has selected the Veterans Memorial Community Center as an official regional site for the 2012 observance.
