Man allegedly confronts kids with AK-47

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (AP) -- A father is accused of confronting some youngsters in St. Louis Park with an assault weapon because he thought they had stolen candy from one of his children.

Forty-four-year-old Orrin Hager is facing a felony charge of second-degree assault with a firearm. Police say he accused a group of boys of taking Halloween candy, began yelling at them and then produced an AK-47 assault rifle.

Investigators say Hager told them he pulled out his weapon because the boys weren't taking him seriously. No one was hurt.

Defense attorney, Joseph Tamburino tells WCCO-TV Hager never pointed the gun at anyone, but does regret the confrontation.
