Slain girls' mother: Don't sell our home

The mother of three girls allegedly slain by their father is pleading for his family not to sell their home in River Falls.

Jessica Shauffhausen posted the request email on the Facebook memorial page devoted to her three daughters, Amara, Sophie and Cecilia. She said she sent it to the Realtor that had listed her family home, where her former husband allegedly killed their daughters during an unannounced visit.

Aaron Shauffhausen faces first degree intentional homicide charges and could face a jury trial in April.

The girls' mother said Aaron Schauffhasen stands to gain financially from the sale because he's the mortgage holder on the home. She said on the Facebook tribute page to her daughters that the proceeds could disqualify him for representation by a public defender, and could delay the case.

Edina Realty has dropped the home from its listings. The asking price was about $230,000.

Maria Verven is a spokeswoman for Edina Realty and the Hudson agent who took the sale.

"She took the listing after being approached by the grandmother of the victims, and only upon further investigation did she realize and we realize that Mr. Shaffhausen could potentially profit from the sale. So after receiving a request from Jessica, Edina Realty and its agent chose to cancel the listing," Verven said.
