Troopers ID victim after car goes underwater

ROLLAG, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota troopers have identified the woman who died after the vehicle in which she was riding left the road and plunged into frigid water.

The State Patrol says the woman was 87-year-old Eileen Johnson of Pelican Rapids.

A KBRF-AM news report says the driver was her husband, 83-year-old Ervin Johnson. He was treated for hypothermia at a hospital and released.

The State Patrol says the accident happened Friday afternoon in Clay County, about two miles north of Rollag.

Sgt. Jesse Grabow says there were patches of ice and packed snow on the road at the time, but authorities haven't said whether the weather was a factor. He says it wasn't snowing at the time.
