Warrant out on former utility executive
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- A judge has issued an arrest warrant for a former Minnesota Power executive who has repeatedly missed court appearances on charges of stealing from the utility company.
Fifty-four-year-old Susan Kay Thompson is charged with the theft of more than $100,000 of corporate property. Thompson was the director of customer service at Minnesota Power for more than 20 years until she resigned in 2010.
Court records show Thompson has missed at least five court appearances, including one on Tuesday in St. Louis County District Court. Defense attorney Kevin Cornwell told the judge his client's absence was due to health issues. Cornwell says Thompson is undergoing radiation treatment for cancer at a Minneapolis hospital.
The Duluth News Tribune says prosecutor Nathaniel Stumme told the judge Thompson has provided "little to no" confirmation of health issues.
