State officials say they're investigating the apparent abduction of a female in western Minnesota.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension issued a crime alert which says a young female of unknown age was abducted by at least three people in a dark-colored SUV in the Swift County community of Appleton about 8 p.m. Monday.

The BCA says a white, heavy-set man wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and dark pants got out of the SUV during the abduction. Investigators say at least two others were in the SUV, which was last seen heading south on Highway 7.
