Icy roads snarl travel in southern Minn.

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation says icy conditions are making travel difficult in southern Minnesota.

MNDOT spokeswoman Rebecca Arndt said Sunday morning that a mix of rain and freezing rain is falling on top of already icy roads near Mankato and all along Interstate 90.

Arndt also said crews are out treating the roads.

But, she said, motorists should not travel unless absolutely necessary.

Motorists are advised to call 511 or visit MnDOT.org for updated road conditions.
