Flu vaccine: Online forum helps clinics share info

Minnesota health officials have set up an online forum for clinics to exchange information about available flu vaccine.

Some clinics are already out of the vaccine, but the viral illness is still widespread in Minnesota, and the demand for the vaccine is still high.

The Minnesota Department of Health has set up an online forum where clinics can exchange information about extra vaccine doses they have, or doses they need. The idea is that some of those vaccine doses that were purchased from private companies can be redistributed to clinics that need them.

Health officials have said there's still plenty of vaccine available, but some clinics -- especially pediatric clinics -- have gone through their supplies faster than they anticipated.

The numbers of flu cases and hospitalizations were down in the past week, but health officials say it's too early to say whether flu season in Minnesota has peaked.
