Minneapolis fire burns metal recycling business

Minneapolis firefighters battled a warehouse fire in north Minneapolis for much of Tuesday morning.

Fire crews were called to Northern Metal, near Washington and Broadway avenues, just after 1 a.m.

The blaze drove firefighters outside, and a second alarm was called to reinforce the fire fighting effort just before 2 a.m.

Deputy Fire Chief Perry Ebner said authorities also evacuated a nearby apartment building as a precaution, although no one was hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
