Three people were killed in crashes on Minnesota roads Monday, including one on Interstate 94 during a winter storm that swept across the region.
The Minnesota State Patrol said 35-year-old Terrie McCoss, from Marshall, was killed when she lost control on an icy state Highway 23 near Granite Falls. Authorities said her car slid sideways into oncoming traffic and was struck by an oncoming SUV about 7:30 a.m. The driver of the other vehicle, a 50-year-old Granite Falls woman, suffered minor injuries.
Two other people were killed Monday morning in a crash on Interstate 94 near Barnesville east of Fargo.
The State Patrol said a woman from Minnetonka tried to pass between a truck plowing the right lane and a semi in the left lane of the interstate. She lost control and hit both trucks, and stalled on the roadway. Her car was hit by an oncoming pickup truck. Judith Reid, 49, and Sean Ray, also 49 and a passenger in her car, were both killed. A 16-year-old boy in the car was also seriously injured.
