Hundreds turn out for Comic-Con in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- Captain America, the Joker and a human-sized puppy were among the cast of characters who turned out Saturday in Fargo for the annual Comic-Con event.

More than 500 people are estimated to have turned out for the third annual event that celebrates comic books and pop culture.

Event organizer Tony Tilton tells The Forum that attendance was up from the previous year when an estimated 300 people showed up. He says he was happy with the turnout on Saturday.

In addition to gaming rooms and vendors selling memorabilia, there was a costume contest. Josephine Wiersma, of Fergus Falls, Minn., won the contest. She was dressed as Frost the White Wolf, an anime character.

Tilton says there were anime costumes, comic book costumes and costumes from other interests.
