Flooding closes Hwy. 169 from St. Peter to Mankato

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) -- The southbound lanes of Highway 169 from St. Peter to Mankato have been closed because of flooding and mudslides.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says flooding has also been reported Saturday afternoon on Highway 66 between Mankato and Good Thunder.

The National Weather Service says the region can expect moderate to heavy rains through Saturday afternoon and evening, along with mild temperatures that are causing rapid snowmelt. It says parts of western Minnesota northwest of a line from Little Falls to Montevideo could get 2 to 4 inches of snow, while regions to the south are more likely to get rain.

Drivers should take care to watch for areas where the road is covered by pools of standing water.
