Met Council plans hearing on Bottineau line

The Metropolitan Council plans to collect testimony on the planned Bottineau light rail line during a public hearing on Monday in Minneapolis.

The Bottineau line would run from Brooklyn Park to downtown Minneapolis and would connect to the Hiawatha, Central and proposed Southwest LRTs, and the Northstar commuter rail line.

Met Council data show the northwest metro area is underserved by public transit. The region is expected to grow by at least 140,000 people by 2030.

Bottineau would allow riders to travel from Brooklyn Park to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport or the Mall of America. The project also includes plans for more bus service in the area.

The hearing is scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday at the Metro Transit Heywood Office Building in Minneapolis.
