Sauk Rapids mayor pleads guilty to DWI
Sauk Rapids Mayor Brad Gunderson has pleaded guilty to a DWI charge after a drunken driving arrest in February.
Gunderson pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of third-degree driving while under the influence. He was sentenced to 15 days in jail and fined $900.
The St. Cloud Times reports Gunderson will be on probation for six years. He also must refrain from drinking and pay for garbage cans and a street sign he hit when he drove his SUV off a street and into a yard.
The complaint says Gunderson had a blood-alcohol level of 0.26 percent about 90 minutes after his arrest. That's more than three times Minnesota's legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Gunderson began his first term as mayor Jan. 1. He has said he won't resign.
