Flood prep: At-risk people should register

FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- County officials in the Fargo and Moorhead, Minn., area want to keep track of people who might need help getting around in case of a spring flood.

The vulnerable population registry is meant for people who require additional assistance, especially with transportation, in the event of a disaster.

Officials say those people typically live independently or with the help of a caregiver.

The National Weather Service says there's a 50 percent chance that the Fargo-Moorhead area could be in for one of the top five Red River floods of all time.

The phone numbers to register are 701-476-4016 in Cass County and 218-299-5220 in Clay County.
