Independent contractor brought to investigate MetroTransit employees

MetroTransit officials say they've hired a contractor to investigate employees at their Hiawatha light-rail facility.

John Siqveland, spokesman for MetroTransit, said the agency began an "administrative investigation" at the Hiawatha light-rail maintenance facility in December. He said the investigation involves personnel, but did not specify the number of employees. He said MetroTransit hired an outside professional for the "most recent phase" of the investigation.

"No disciplinary action has been taken at this juncture. We can't comment on the nature or findings of the investigation at this point because it is not yet final," he said.

Siqveland said the situation is being taken seriously and more information will be provided when the investigation is complete.
