Target testing video streaming service

Target is testing a video streaming service.

The offering is called Target Ticket and the service's website says it provides 15,000 titles, including new releases, classic movies and next-day TV shows. Users can also purchase movies and TV shows and download them.

Target Ticket is currently in beta mode and only Target employees can access it.

A Target spokeswoman said the in-house test of the service will provide valuable information that will help shape future plans. She said the company will share additional details when they become available. Target is not divulging pricing details for now.

The online video streaming business is a crowded field. Players include NetFlix, Hulu, Amazon and Apple, as well as Comcast and other internet service providers. Walmart has its Vudu video-streaming service. Best Buy's entry in the space is called Cinemanow.
