Vin Weber, former U.S. representative and now co-chairman and partner of Mercury/Clark & Weinstock in Washington, D.C., says he was not shocked by the announcement that Michele Bachmann will not run for re-election.

He said he had spoken with the congresswoman recently and had gotten the idea that she was thinking of making a change.

"I don't have a favorite myself," he said of the possible candidates to run in her place. "I don't think there's any shortage of good, solid candidates." He said whoever the party chooses "will hold the district."

He said he expected Bachmann would continue to have a voice in the national media. "She has established a national brand for herself," he said.
