Vandals target southern Minnesota mosque

Officials at a mosque in southern Minnesota want to know why vandals are targeting their religious center.

A window was broken over the weekend at Owatonna's Muslim Society Center.

Center officials say it's the second time in two weeks - and third time this year - that a window has been broken at the center.

Ali Farah, one of the leaders at the mosque, says they don't understand why they're being targeted.

The building is monitored by security cameras, but the Owatonna People's Press reports whoever is breaking the windows apparently knows the layout of the building and is moving the cameras.

Police have no leads. The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations is calling on authorities to investigate the vandalism as a possible hate crime.
