Local architect chosen for UND med school
The new University of North Dakota medical school will be designed by an architecture firm the university has relied on for decades.
UND President Robert Kelley has named JLG Architects of Grand Forks as the lead designer of the $124 million project. Architect selection committee chairman Randy Eken tells the Grand Forks Herald that with an ambitious move-in date slated for summer 2016, the university chose JLG because of its plan to get the project moving quickly.
The Legislature approved money for the project earlier this year. The next step for the university is selecting a site for the 378,000-square-foot facility. A building committee will be formed by Wednesday, when JLG meets with faculty and staff to discuss what they should expect when construction begins early next spring.
