The Sherburne County Sheriff's Office and Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office were investigating the deaths of a married couple.
Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott said a woman called 911 about 1:30 p.m. Friday and said someone told her that he had shot his wife.
Officers responded to a Clear Lake home and tried to contact the man inside by telephone.
The man, 47-year-old Christopher Norrbom, was threatening to kill himself. Brott said a standoff ensued and tactical teams from Sherburne County, the Elk River Police Department and Anoka County were called to the scene.
Negotiations with the man broke down, but SWAT officers entered the home through an attached garage and found the body of the man's wife, Janell Norrbom, also 47.
When officers entered the home, they found the man dead.
The bodies will be sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsies.
