The Hennepin County Attorney's office is in the process of investigating the death of a burglary suspect who was killed by police in a Minneapolis home last month.

One of the things they are looking at is the role of a police dog in the effort to apprehend the suspect.

To get a better sense for how dogs are used in police work, Morning Edition host Cathy Wurzer visited the Tim Jones Memorial K-9 Kennels, where the St. Paul Police train their patrol dogs. She learned about how police dogs are used from Officer Jason Brodt, the head trainer for the unit.
