2 boats collide on Lake Minnetonka

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Two boats collided on Lake Minnetonka, tossing a toddler overboard and injuring another child.

According to the Hennepin County Sheriff's office, two boats struck each other while traveling in the same direction 200 feet from shore on Wayzata Bay before 10 a.m. Sunday.

One boat was described as a runabout, and the other as a pontoon boat.

The runabout had four passengers, including a 2-year-old boy who was thrown in to the lake. He was wearing a life jacket, and his father pulled him from the water.

The pontoon had five passengers, including a 7-year-old girl who suffered minor head injuries and a woman who cut her foot.

The sheriff's office is investigating.
