Road work to close I-94, bridges over I-35W in Twin Cities this week

Portions of three bridges over Interstate 35W in Bloomington will close this week for construction work.

The eastbound sides of the 82nd and 86th street bridges will close today and Tuesday, and the westbound sides Wednesday and Thursday. The westbound side of the 90th street bridge will close Friday and the eastbound on Monday.

In another highway project, the Lowry Hill Tunnel in Minneapolis on Interstate 94 will close for cleaning this week. The westbound lanes will close tonight starting at 10 p.m., and are scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday. The eastbound lanes will close Tuesday night.

The Penn Avenue bridge over state Highway 62, or the Crosstown, also is scheduled to close Wednesday for a three-month project to install a new deck. That work will include closing part of Highway 62 next weekend to demolish the existing bridge deck.

In northeast Minneapolis, resurfacing work will close Broadway Avenue between Central and University avenues overnight on Tuesday night. Work on that project also will close University Avenue overnight on Thursday in both directions between Hennepin and Broadway avenues.
