Charges filed in fatal Bemidji hit-run

A man accused of fighting with officers investigating a fatal hit-and-run case in Beltrami County is charged with obstruction.

Richard Strong is being held in the county jail on $4,000 bond. A criminal complaint says officers were inspecting a car at Strong's apartment building earlier this week. The complaint says Strong was intoxicated and belligerent and became more unruly when authorities decided to tow the vehicle. He's accused of pushing a state agent at one point.

The body of 25-year-old Christopher Lee Strong of Bemidji was discovered on a road near Bemidji early Wednesday. Sheriff Phil Hodapp tells the Bemidji Pioneer it's not clear what the relationship between the two men might be.
