I-35W, 252 among Twin Cities road work projects this weekend

There will be another round of major road detours in the Twin Cities this weekend. They'll start affecting traffic on several freeways tonight.

Minnesota 252

MnDOT is closing north and southbound Highway 252 beside the Mississippi River in Brooklyn Center. Westbound Interstate 94 and Westbound Interstate 694 will also be blocked in that same area for the weekend as crews remove Highway 252 bridge decks. That's part of a pavement and bridge repair project on Interstate 694 scheduled to run through November.

Crews are scheduled to paint several bridges. That'll mean closing southbound I-35W lanes between Highway 13 and the split with Interstate 35E starting at 10 p.m. tonight. Drivers will be rerouted to use interstates 494 and 35E instead.

In addition, northbound Interstate 35 south of the split will be down to a single lane between the split and Highway 50. The northbound I-35 and County Road 46 ramps will also close. The closures are dependent on weather, but are scheduled to end by 5 a.m. on Monday.

Highway 10, northwest suburbs

Highway 10 will be down to a single lane starting this weekend. West and eastbound Highway 10 west of the Rum River in Anoka will be single lane starting at 7 p.m. through Sunday morning. Another stretch of Highway 10 over the Rum River will be reduced to a single lane in both directions starting Sunday morning. MnDOT says that will remain single lane through the end of August.

Minnesota 36 / Minnesota 95

Crews will be demolishing the flyover bridge from eastbound Highway 36 to northbound Highway 95. That's expected to impact access to the Sunnyside Marina. A detour will be available to highway 36 running on Fifth and Osgood Avenues.

MnDOT says the demolition will be going on around the clock until the bridge is gone. MnDOT is closing Highway 95 south of downtown Stillwater starting at 10 o'clock tonight. It's scheduled to reopen Monday morning.

Highway 169, northwest suburbs

It's also be the fourth weekend for northbound U.S. Highway 169 closures from Golden Valley to Maple Grove. That 7-mile stretch is being repaved this summer. Those closures start at 9 p.m.
