PedalPub crashes in downtown Minneapolis

Two people were hospitalized today after a PedalPub they were riding tipped over near downtown Minneapolis.

The vehicle, which is licensed to serve alcohol to groups of passengers, tipped over about 2:14 p.m. near 105 5th Avenue S., close to the Stone Arch Bridge, Minneapolis Police Department spokesperson Cyndi Barrington said.

"They were coming down a hill and started to take a turn on the street when the PedalPub tipped over," Barrington said. "Speed may have been a factor as they were traveling down a significant incline."

Emergency personnel transported two passengers to Hennepin County Medical Center to check for possible internal injuries. Barrington said three other passengers were treated for minor injuries.

Although alcohol is served to passengers on the pedal pub, Barrington said it wasn't a factor in the accident.

The company Twin Cities PedalPub confirmed that it operates the vehicle.
