Morning Edition is getting to know the Republican candidates for U.S. Senate. In a conversation with MPR's Cathy Wurzer, businessman Mike McFadden said the Senate is lacking members with real business experience.

As co-CEO of Lazard Middle Market (he's taken a leave from that position as he pursues political office), McFadden said that health care is his fastest growing expense. He told Wurzer that's why he wants to "repeal and replace" the nation's new health care law.

McFadden said he's the only candidate in the race who has to sign disclosure statements as a result of the Dodd-Frank financial reform law and his business experience would help the Senate craft careful regulations that put a minimal burden on small business owners.
