A Hopkins High School senior has pleaded guilty to charges that she helped prostitute a teammate on her cheerleading squad.
Montia Parker, 18, could face up to 108 months in prison after she rejected a plea deal earlier that included a lighter sentence.
Prosecutors said Parker talked with a 16-year-old girl she knew through cheerleading about earning money through prostitution. When the girl agreed to try it, Parker put up an ad for her on the site Backpage.com.
The Office of the Hennepin County Attorney said there were two responses to the ad. On March 5, Parker drove the victim to an apartment where a man paid the victim $60 for oral sex. Parker admitted she deposited the money in her bank account. The next day, Parker drove the victim to another apartment, but the girl refused to perform the sex act.
A press release from the office of the Hennepin County Attorney stated that Parker's lawyer said she felt "guilty, regretful, remorseful."
Hennepin County District Court Judge William Koch is scheduled to hand down Parker's sentence on Oct. 11.
