Authorities identify woman who died in U of M window fall
Stephanie Ann Lehr, of Minneapolis, has been identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner as the 19-year-old woman who died after falling out of a sixth-floor window at a University of Minnesota dormitory over the weekend.
University police responded to Yudof Hall on the Minneapolis campus just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Police said the woman was trying to move from the window to a rooftop area when she fell. A screen had been removed from a window, which was not designed to be an exit.
University spokesman Chuck Tombarge says the fall appeared to be an accident. Lehr was not a student at the university.
The medical examiner said Lehr died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries.
Further autopsy and toxicology test results are pending. Police say alcohol was found in the dorm room, but it's not clear if alcohol played a role.
The university is offering counseling for students.
