Despite dry weather lately, Patricia Arndt of the Division of Parks and Trails says trees got adequate rain earlier this season. She says the state just needs a combination of sunny days and cool nights in the weeks ahead to bring out the fall colors.

Colors typically peak between mid-September and early October in northern third of Minnesota, between late September and early October in central third and between late September and mid-October in southern third including the Twin Cities.

The statewide fall color report on the DNR's website is updated every Thursday. The DNR also offers fall colors ``to go'' on a mobile website compatible with smart phones and tablets.
