Rulon Stacey named new CEO of Fairview Health Services

One of Minnesota's largest health systems has hired a new CEO.

Rulon Stacey, president of University of Colorado Health is taking on Fairview Health Services, which runs the University of Minnesota's Hospital. Fairview had been without a permanent CEO for more than a year.

The Fairview board ousted former CEO Mark Eustis last year, after state Attorney General Lori Swanson began investigating the health system's bill collector for aggressive tactics to collect payments, including hitting patients up for payment in emergency rooms.

Earlier this year, Swanson General grilled executives about a potential merger with South Dakota-based Sanford Health, which never came to pass.

As president of Colorado Health, Stacey heads a similar partnership between a community health system and an academic medical center. He also has served as CEO of Colorado's Poudre Valley Health System.

He will start his new job Nov. 4.
