Teacher uses inheritance to buy laptops

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (AP) -- Third-graders at a White Bear Lake elementary school have a technological advantage because of a generous gift from their teacher.

Tracy Gripentrog has embraced the important of computers as she watched teaching evolve in her 30 years in the profession. She knew that Willow Lane Elementary School needed more than its 30 laptops and 10 ipads for its 400 students.

So, Gripentrog used $4,000 in inheritance money from her parents to buy her students 15 Chromebooks. Gripentrog's father passed away five years ago. Her mother died this year. She says her parents would approve of the expenditure. She tells KMSP-TV her dad would pass his own computers on to her for use in her classroom.
