Kerri's book Pick of the Week is Amy Tan's "The Valley of Amazement."
This new novel, her first since "Saving Fish from Drowning" in 2005, focuses on the relationships between mothers and daughters who live in a high-class brothel.
Entertainment Weekly's review says that Tan "sweeps you up in the wildly changing fortunes of a whip-smart courtesan."
