Mixed reaction from Minneapolis voters to the city's long ranked-choice ballot

In Minneapolis, voters are turning out to choose among 35 candidates for mayor and to fill City Council seats.

Residents of the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood had mixed reactions to the new rank-choice voting system.

"It was pretty easy for me," said Maggie Catambay, who lives in Riverside Plaza. "I got a sample ballot from the city of Minneapolis, so I practiced beforehand, and I pretty much knew which candidates I wanted to vote for."

But Mohamed Ali, another Cedar-Riverside resident, called the new ballot "a little confusing" and said he preferred the old system.
