Northbound lanes of St. Paul's U.S. 52 bridge to close Saturday

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will close the northbound side of the U.S. 52 bridge in St. Paul Saturday.

Crews will be pouring concrete for a pier that will support the new northbound bridge in the middle of the Mississippi River, so traffic will be detoured around the area. The closure stretches from Concord Street to West 7th Street.

The bridge will be closed only Saturday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Drivers will be directed to use Interstate 494, U.S. 61 and Interstate 94 instead.

MnDOT is building two new bridges to replace the old Lafayette Freeway bridge. The project started in March of 2011 and is expected to be completed in October of 2015.
