Aid worker says safe housing is biggest medical need in Philippines

It was a month ago Sunday when Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in the Philippines, killing more than 5,700 people. More than 1,000 people are still missing and 4 million have been displaced.

In the weeks since the deadly super storm passed through aid has poured into the island nation from around the world, and from Minnesota.

Julie Pearce, a nurse practitioner and founder of the Julie Pearce Medical Relief Team, coordinates medical professionals to respond to natural disasters around the world. She has returned from the Philippines and speaks from the MPR News bureau in Duluth with Tom Crann of All Things Considered.
