Happy birthday to Keith Richards who turns 70 years old today. The legendary guitarist and Rolling Stones co-founder was born in Dartford, just outside London in the middle of World War II.

His mother told Keith that he came into this world during a German air raid. Over the years, he has survived everything from drug addiction to near electrocution to falling out of a coconut tree.

It was announced this week that a marker will be placed at the spot in a train station where Richards and Mick Jagger bumped into each other in 1961. They recognized each other because they had attended the same elementary school.

The chance encounter in the train station led to a remarkable music partnership that continues to this day. Click on the audio link above to hear more, including his song "Happy," from the Stones' "Exile on Main Street" album.
