Woman arrested for leaving turkey browner unattended at airport

A Minneapolis woman was arrested after abandoning a propane-fueled turkey browner at the Humphrey Terminal at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Friday morning.

The 35-year-old woman had tried to check a box containing the propane cooker as luggage at the Southwest Airlines counter. When Southwest agents refused, she left the box behind, went through security and boarded a plane, airport spokesman Pat Hogan said.

Fears it might be dangerous led authorities to summon the Bloomington Police bomb squad. The terminal was closed for about two hours and about 12 flights were delayed due to the incident.

Normal operations at the airport resumed shortly after 8 a.m.

Police took the woman off her flight for questioning before it departed. They arrested her for the misdemeanor of leaving an unattended bag at the airport, Hogan said.

"If you're not sure what to bring with you on the plane, look at the TSA's website, check with your airline," Hogan said. "When in doubt, leave it out."
