$2 million in Salvation Army donations

The Salvation Army in Minnesota and North Dakota saw a big jump in kettle and online donations Friday and Saturday, as people looked to get their contributions doubled.

Anonymous donors had pledged to match up to $2 million in contributions. The charity expects it easily received enough donations to get all the matching funds.

Spokeswoman Annette Bauer said contributions had been down about 25 percent this quarter and the anonymous donors wanted to inspire a surge in giving.

Kettles and bell-ringers will be taking donations until Christmas Eve.
