Police: Shots fired in Mpls. fugitive chase
Officials with the Minneapolis Police Department and U.S. Marshals Service took a fugitive into custody today after shots were fired.
Buck Otto White, 48, fled in a car as police officers and members of a U.S. Marshal's task force tried to apprehend him on a federal warrant issued last year, police spokesman John Elder said.
"During the pursuit, some shots were fired," Elder said. "And that's being investigated at this time. White crashed his vehicle and was taken into custody. He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where he was checked and is fine."
Minneapolis police said in a statement released later the department's officers did not fire shots.

Elder said it appears no one else was injured.
White, also known as Timothy Joseph Hoffman, was indicted in March of last year on charges of being a felon in possession of firearms. According to the indictment, White was found with two rifles and two shotguns. White is legally prohibited from possessing firearms because of several prior convictions in Hennepin, Anoka and Kanabec Counties.
Court records show White was out of custody on an unsecured $25,000 bond which he signed on July 9, 2013.
Elder said officers began pursuing White near the 1300 block of Grand St. NE. He said Minneapolis police officers did not fire their guns during the pursuit.
However, Elder said investigators are still trying to decide if White or the deputy U.S. Marshals fired their weapons.
