Film highlights unique beauty of Upper Mississippi

A La Crescent biologist has captured on film the beauty of deeply carved river valleys in a unique area of the Upper Mississippi River.

The Driftless Area includes portions of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa that were never touched by glaciers. Biologist George Howe says he wanted to showcase the area and tell a story of the scientists and others exploring the area.

Untamed Science helped Howe produce the film "Mysteries of the Driftless" which has been showed at film festivals across the country, on PBS and Saturday at Winona State University.

Here's a trailer for the film:

Howe tells the Winona Daily News says the film features the "genuine stories of discovery that mix science with humor and human experiences."
