Minnesota native Maria Schneider finds out if a third Grammy is hers Sunday.
Schneider grew up in the southwest Minnesota community of Windom, and works mainly in the jazz and classical music fields.
Through the years she's received nine Grammy nominations, winning twice. Her latest nomination is for her classical music composition "Winter Morning Walks." The album features the St. Paul and Australian Chamber Orchestras and soprano Dawn Upshaw.
Upshaw, the album's engineers and producer received nominations as well. On her website Schneider calls the production a 'mammoth undertaking'. Schneider is a University of Minnesota graduate, and tours the world with her own musical group, the Maria Schneider Orchestra.
The Minnesota Orchestra won the Grammy for best performance by an orchestra.
